SPECIAL NOTES & IMPORTANT DATES
CWL COFFEE SUNDAY & BAKE SALE is CANCELLED FOR JUNE – it will resume in September. Have a wonderful & safe summer!
PARISH OFFICE SUMMER HOURS – during July & August, the office will be open Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays. The only exception to that is July 1st which is Canada Day – the office will be closed that day.
PROJECT ADVANCE LAUNCH is the weekend of July 4th/5th after all the Masses. All proceeds will go towards repairs to pews & floors in the church. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
FEAST OF OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL MASS is on Saturday, July 11TH @10AM. The Novena starts Thursday, July 2nd continues to Friday, July 10th
Adoration Chapel is open at 10am to noon – Monday through Friday.
MONTHLY COMMUNION is taken to the sick on the 1st Thursday. Should you need this service, please contact the Parish Office.
2025 TAX RECEIPTS can be picked up during the week from the Parish Office, or you can phone/email and we can mail or email to you.
2026 SUNDAY ENVELOPES – if you haven’t already, please pick up your envelopes from the Parish Office during the week.
On the 4th Sunday of every month, the 11am Mass will be for all students & parents of our School. All parents & students are requested to attend.
Gluten-Free Communion Available - If you require a gluten-free Communion, please receive communion directly from the priest rather than from a Eucharistic minister. Kindly indicate your need when you come forward. Your health and spiritual well-being are important to us. We are committed to making Sacraments accessible and welcoming for all.
The Filipino Mass is on the first Sunday of the month at 6pm
Christian Meditation Group meets in person on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7pm.

to the care of Joseph, an earthly father.
Bless all fathers as they care for their families. Give them strength and wisdom, tenderness and patience; support them in the work they have to do, protecting those who look to them, as we look to you for love and salvation, through Jesus Christ our rock and defender. Amen.
Parish Education Committee
Dear parishioners and school parents.
Today, our hearts are full of gratitude and hope as we recognize the dedicated service of our outgoing Parish Education Committee members and warmly welcome those who have accepted the call to serve in the coming term.
First, on behalf of the parish and school community, I would like to express our sincere appreciation to our outgoing committee members, Serafino, Robert, Janet and Enrique. Your commitment, wisdom, and tireless efforts have contributed greatly to the educational and spiritual growth of our school and the parish. Through your service, you have helped strengthen faith formation programs, supported our catechists and teachers, guided our children and youth, and promoted lifelong learning within our faith community.
Your work has often taken place behind the scenes, yet its impact is clearly visible in the lives that have been touched and nurtured. We thank you for the time, energy, talents, and sacrifices you have generously offered. May God bless you abundantly and reward you for your faithful service.
As we say thank you to those completing their term, we are equally delighted to welcome our new Parish Education Committee members, Chairperson: Nadia Louzado, Treasurer: Jose Enage, Participation: Ana Abreu, Facilities: Jeff Wallace. Secretary: Juan Gonzalez, Jeremy Douglas, Luella Stuart. We thank you for accepting this important responsibility and for being willing to serve God's people through this ministry. Your willingness to contribute your talents and ideas is a gift to our school and parish, and we look forward to working together to continue building a vibrant and faith-filled community.
The Parish Education Committee carries an important mission within the school and parish. Its primary responsibility is to support and promote Christian education and faith formation for students and parishioners of all ages. This includes Planning and supporting religious education and catechetical programs. Assisting in the preparation for the sacraments, including First Communion, and Confirmation. Encouraging ongoing faith formation for children, youth, and adults. Supporting catechists, teachers, and volunteers involved in educational ministries. Promoting Catholic values and teachings within school and parish programs and activities. Identifying educational needs within the school and parish and recommending appropriate programs and resources. Collaborating with parish leadership to strengthen the spiritual, moral, and educational life of the community. Fostering opportunities for lifelong learning, discipleship, and evangelization. These responsibilities are not merely administrative tasks; they are a ministry of service. Through education and faith formation, the committee helps guide individuals to a deeper relationship with Christ and equips them to live out their faith in daily life.
To our new members, may you approach this ministry with enthusiasm, humility, and a spirit of collaboration. May you be inspired by those who have served before you and continue the important work of nurturing faith and knowledge within our parish family.
As we move forward together, let us remember that education is one of the most powerful ways we share the Gospel and build the future of our Church. May God grant wisdom to our committee members, bless their efforts, and guide them in all they do for the glory of His name.

REFLECTIONS
GOD CARES FOR US AND PROTECTS US
We read today’s Gospel in the context of last week’s Gospel in which Jesus sent the twelve disciples to proclaim the kingdom of heaven. In between last week’s reading and today’s reading, Jesus has predicted that the disciples will face difficulties in their mission. Many people will not receive them well, even within the land of Israel. Even family members will turn away from the disciples because of the disciples’ commitment to Jesus and the kingdom. Today’s Gospel offers the disciples consolation against this difficult truth.
This section of Matthew’s Gospel should be read in the context of Matthew’s intended audience, a Jewish-Christian community. The Gospel alludes to the dangers and persecutions that this community has most likely already faced and will continue to face. To reassure this community, Matthew recalls for them the encouraging words of Jesus that we read today.
In this Gospel passage, Jesus might be understood as putting suffering in perspective. The disciples of Jesus are called upon to keep their focus on God. Those who can harm the body do not have ultimate power; God does. Still persecution and suffering cannot be avoided or prevented. But Jesus reassures his disciples that God knows and cares about what happens to his children.
We might not face the same type of persecution, but we do experience difficulties as we endeavor to live a Christian life. Sometimes we let the opinions of others prevent us from doing what we know to be right. We need the reminder that what God thinks about us is more important. We are reassured by the promise that God cares for us and protects us.

St. Edmund’s Christian Meditation Group
The St Edmund's Parish unit of the 'World Community for Christian Meditation' (WCCM) will resume its in-person meditation meeting, on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7pm in St Edmund's Church. "No Experience Necessary"- The group leader will give new people the basics of meditation and some resources.
WCCM continues to hold a weekly virtual meeting on Mondays (via ZOOM), also at 7.00pm. You are sincerely invited to attend the WCCM meeting(s). All are welcome.

Remember St. Edmund's in your Will - Gifts for Tomorrow
A planned gift to be realized in the future, such as the options below, may be the best approach for you and may allow you to make a larger gift than you might have thought possible.
• A Gift in Your Will - This is the most common type of planned gift - a gift in your will. Arranged today, a bequest is paid to St. Edmund's Parish through your estate, after your death. You can give a specific sum, property, or a percentage of your estate. It is important that the full name of the parish and charitable number be included in your will so that there is no confusion about your intentions. • Life Insurance - A gift of life insurance is a simple and thoughtful way to make a gift to St. Edmund's Parish. Insurance allows you to make a modest gift now for a significant gift in the future.
• RRSP and RRIF Funds - Naming St. Edmund's Parish a beneficiary of your RRSPs and RRIFs means all or a portion of these assets can now be left directly to St. Edmund's Parish upon your death without having to pass through your estate. This arrangement means that no probate fees are payable on these assets. In most cases, the taxes owing on your donated RRSPs or RRIFs at death are offset by the charitable tax credits generated by your donation.
