We want to take a moment to extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who helped make our picnic such a joyful and memorable day!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your generous support—whether through financial donations, food contributions, your time, or simply your encouragement and presence. Your involvement truly made all the difference.
We had an absolute blast at the Langley Water Park! The children’s laughter and excitement said it all as they splashed around and enjoyed the sunshine, water, and wonderful company.
Our visit to Carmel Hill Monastery was another special highlight. It was a beautiful opportunity to spend time in a peaceful and serene place of worship. We are especially grateful for the warm hospitality shown to us by Father Mario and Father Vincent.
The fun continued with games and a delicious dinner of classic barbecue hot dogs and sweet corn—simple, but absolutely perfect! We ended the day with big smiles, prize giveaways, and wonderful memories that we will cherish for a long time.
A very special thank you to Fr. Steny, and Fr. Jeevan, for your presence, guidance, encouragement, and blessings. Your support means so much to all of us, especially the children.
We are especially grateful to all the parents who generously gave their time and energy to organize, supervise, and help ensure the safety and enjoyment of every child. Your presence and dedication made a tremendous difference. PARISH OFFICE SUMMER HOURS – during August, the office will be open Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays
The Royal Orchid Tours welcome to join the beautiful eastern Europe pilgrimage sites from October 5-20, 2026, to visit Medjugorje, Infant Jesus of Prague, the Divine Mercy in Krakow, St. Faustina Shrine and other places. There are still 6 spots available. The tour will be joined by Rev. Jeevan Dalmeda as the spiritual guide. Those interested please contact at the earliest the office for more information and find more details posted in the parish bulletin or on the announcement board.
MONTHLY COMMUNION is taken to the sick on the 1st Thursday. Should you need this service, please contact the Parish Office.

On the 4th Sunday of every month, the 11am Mass will be for all students & parents of our School. All parents & students are requested to attend.
Gluten-Free Communion Available - If you require a gluten-free Communion, please receive communion directly from the priest rather than from a Eucharistic minister. PROJECT ADVANCE LAUNCH is the weekend of Sept. 19th/20th after all the Masses. All proceeds will go towards repairs to pews & floors in the church. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

REFLECTIONS
Simon Peter’s profession of faith
It is important to read today’s Gospel and next week’s Gospel as two parts of a single story. These readings are a turning point in Matthew’s Gospel. This week we hear Jesus name Simon Peter as the rock upon which he will build his Church. Next week we will hear Jesus call this same Simon Peter "Satan" when he reacts negatively to Jesus’ prediction about his passion and death.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus asks his disciples what people are saying about his identity. The disciples indicate that most people believe that Jesus is a prophet of Israel. Then Jesus asks his disciples who they believe that he is. Simon Peter answers, identifying Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God.
Jesus commends Simon Peter for this profession of faith, indicating that this insight has come from God. Because of Simon Peter’s response, Jesus calls him the "rock" upon which Jesus will build the Church. This is a word play on the name Peter, which is the Greek word for "rock." Peter is then given special authority by Jesus, a symbolic key to the Kingdom of Heaven. Peter will play an important role in the early Christian community as a spokesperson and a leader.
In today’s Gospel, Peter’s recognition of Jesus’ identity is credited to a revelation by God. This will contrast sharply with Jesus’ rebuke of Peter in next week’s Gospel. When Peter rejects Jesus’ prediction of his passion and death, Peter is said to no longer be thinking as God does but as humans do.
The use of the term church in today’s Gospel is one of only three such occurrences in Matthew’s Gospel. Peter in this Gospel is being credited as the foundation for the Church, a privilege granted to him because of his recognition of Jesus’ identity. The Church continues to be grounded in the faith that Jesus Christ is Lord.

St. Edmund’s Christian Meditation Group
The St Edmund's Parish unit of the 'World Community for Christian Meditation' (WCCM) will resume its in-person meditation meeting, on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7pm in St Edmund's Church. "No Experience Necessary"- The group leader will give new people the basics of meditation and some resources.
WCCM continues to hold a weekly virtual meeting on Mondays (via ZOOM), also at 7.00pm. You are sincerely invited to attend the WCCM meeting(s). All are welcome.
