Reflections
JESUS REMAINS WITH US THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT
This portion of John's Gospel comes near the end of the first of four chapters that make up Jesus' long farewell discourse at the Last Supper. This section of chapter 14 actually sums up the themes of the opening of the discourse: the Christian's life is not shaped by Jesus' absence but by God's abiding presence; God's presence overcomes anxiety about God's absence; and the present holds in it the seeds of a fresh future shaped by love, not fear.
These verses also contain a glimpse of some of the other themes of the farewell discourse: Jesus' relationship with the Father and the disciples' relationship to Jesus connect the disciples to the Father as well. Jesus promises to send an Advocate or intercessor who will remind the disciples of everything that Jesus taught them and bring them peace.
Jesus is preparing his disciples in advance for his absence so that they will continue to believe in him and not feel all alone after his return to the Father. After the initial excitement of his Easter appearances, Jesus will remain with his followers in a very different way throughout the centuries.
As our celebration of the Easter season is coming to an end, the liturgy reminds us that Jesus remains with us through the Holy Spirit, who teaches us everything we need to know, reminds us of all that Jesus taught, and brings us peace.

Man up Unlocking the Mysteries of St. Joseph

Hello, we are hoping your organization will choose to participate in our 2025 Man’s Destiny Conference on Saturday, June 7th, 2025.
Men today face a battle - a spiritual war against the forces that weaken virtue, distort truth, and undermine faith. This year’s Man’s Destiny Conference, sponsored by the St. Matthew’s Knights of Columbus, is designed to equip men to stand firm in their faith, protect their families, and lead lives of holiness in a world that constantly pulls them away from God.
As Archbishop Miller has said:"Now more than ever before, Canada needs strong men of faith who courageously seek to live pure and holy lives that witness to God’s love and mercy."
CONFERENCE LEADER - DEVIN SCHADT
Our conference leader this year is speaker, author, and advocate for authentic fatherhood, Devin Schadt co-founded the Fathers of St. Joseph, an apostolate dedicated to restoring fatherhood in the image of St. Joseph. His books, including Joseph’s Way: The Call to Fatherly Greatness and Show Us The Father, inspire men to embrace their role as spiritual leaders in their homes. A husband and father of five, Devin leads by example living out the virtues he teaches. Devin has also been featured on Pints with Aquinas and The Catholic Gentleman.
FAITH. BROTHERHOOD. LEGACY.
This conference isn’t just an event - it’s a call to action. Bring your sons. Bring your brothers. This is a day to strengthen our faith, reclaim our role as spiritual leaders, and unlock the mysteries in the fatherhood of St. Joseph to guide and protect our families and others as we all journey toward the promise of eternal life.
Please consider placing an ad in our event program.
Sincerely yours,
Fr. Tien Tran Pastor
